1. The Goodwill Bins (Outlet)
Items are sold by weight (approx $1.59/lb). This is the lowest cost-of-goods (COGS) available.
- Rules: Wear gloves. Bring large IKEA bags. Wait for the rotation (new bins) to be unlocked before digging.
- Target: Lightweight items. Silk, Cashmere, Vintage Tees, and Nylon windbreakers have the highest ROI because they weigh nothing.
2. Garage Sale Negotiation
Never ask "How much?" first if you can avoid it. It anchors the price high.
The Bundle Technique:
"I'm interested in these video games, but I also like this old camera and these tools. If I take the whole box right now to clear up space for you, would you do $40?"
People want their space back more than they want max dollar.
3. Estate Sales Timing
Day 1 (Friday): Full Price. Go only for rare "Grails" (Rolex, Tiffany, High-end Audio) that will sell immediately.
Day 3 (Sunday): Usually 50% off. This is the volume flipping day. Look for "Bread and Butter" clothing and kitchenware that wasn't worth it at full price.
